Ms. M. Shenandoah Elementary School
Baton Rouge, LA Grades 3-5

Ever wish you could rewind time to capture special moments? My students in grades Kind-5 who are part of a Gifted Resource program will be learning how to capture footage using a video camcorder, and then creating products using a variety of computer software applications.

My students are high achievers who crave a challenge with technology and long term projects. Gifted education is typically the least funded program in public education. In order for students to meet their potential funding is a necessity. My students would like to be able to film each other presenting projects to aid in evaluation and self-critiques. According to the Renzulli Learning Profile system our school utilizes, over half of my students are interested in photography and video creation.

We are interested in acquiring a hand held video camcorder, with tripod stand, and a small supply of DVD+R discs.

Students will use the captured footage to create mini-movies, stop-motion films, documentaries, and self-evaluations. Watching yourself on tape can be a very reflective learning experience for people of all ages. These projects also promote creative thinking and the use of innovative ideas. Your help will enable me to begin projects as soon as the school year starts, so please help us get the equipment needed!! Thanks!!
