I want to make reading fun for my students! I teach struggling K-3 readers in a high poverty elementary school. In our county, 22% of the citizens do not read above a fourth grade level. I want to make sure the students I work with do not become part of this statistic!

It is only natural that students like things they are successful at doing. Struggling readers oftentimes do not like to practice the small skills that help them to become better readers; however, how many kids do you know that does not like to play a game? If I could make learning to read a game, I may spark the interest in my students and help them to become great readers!

For my project, I am requesting four game libraries. These libraries include different games in each, teaching such concepts as prefixes/suffixes, vocabulary, phonics skills, and more! They will be used twice a week in literacy centers, as well as by students during indoor recess. When my classroom is not using the games, they will be shared with the other classrooms in the school.

Your help with my project will help my students to become better readers! They will be able to play the games and have so much fun they will not even realize they are learning in the process!!
