Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Buffalos really can communicate! My students are part of the Buffalo Nation, and we want our part of the herd to learn by seeing, to feel positive by pictoral recognition, and to share the pride via a webpage. My students are mostly 9th graders in a very large 5A school. We do many presentations, and I would really like to give my students a sense of empowerment by way of feeling "ownership" in their school. If I could record each of the student's presenations, I could create a video file for each one, and give them a portfolio to take with them. I could also share their accomplishments with peers, parents, the school, and the community via a website.

Please do not allow our high poverty level and tight educational budget to keep our Buffalos down! Many of our students meet the economically disadvanted requirements, however, they have such creativity and talant! I want my students to have the opportunity to feel success through achievement. My small budget would not allow for a digital camera.

A digital camera would benefit every one of my students. As they perform speeches, radio shows, TV commercials, award presentations, and other types of activities, I can record these and create a video portfolio for them. (This would then be converted to a DVD for them to take and use with a resume or college applicaiton.) We would also like to create a web page to show off the great skills of our Buffalo Nation!

Your generous gift could make a difference in the lives of thousands of students. (I teach 300 plus students a year.) This donation would actually allow kids to SEE their successes and positive accomplishments. As we know, "a picture is worth a thousand words." Please make this possible for my students.
