Is there such a thing as "GOOD" drama?? Sure there is! Children involved in dramatic play are developing their imaginations and strengthening their social interactions. I teach a Preschool Intervention class. My class is made up of a mix of children with disabilities and typically developing peers. I have a range of disabilities in my classroom from autism to down syndrome to developmental delays. My students are 3-5 year olds with a wide variety of educational and developmental needs.

All of the students in my classroom would benefit from the dramatic play materials I am requesting. For most children with autism, social interactions are difficult. Their delays in social interactions paired with the likeliness of communication delays make peer play extremely difficult.

With autism striking more males then females, it is not unusual that I have more boys then girls in my classroom. The wooden airport and garage with the accessories would be not only enticing to my students, but also durable. I assure you though, my girls will not be left out. It is my experience, that at this young age, children in my classroom have not discriminated against typical gender specific toys. In other words, the girls love to play with the trucks and blocks and the boys love to play in the kitchen center.
