"Welcome to the 3rd grade. I teach students in a Title 1 school and my classroom is an ELL classroom, which means I teach students with English as their second language. I teach in a low income area, most of my students are on free or reduced lunches. All students want to be successful. In order for them to succeed in any subject area...they need to be able to read. My goal is simple, I want to help my students be successful readers, but to do so, I need to correctly match them to the right reading levels. I also need a resource that helps my students feel successful as they are able to increase their difficulty level as they progress in the program. The solution is not a simple one, but you can help. The Fountas and Pinnell Benchmark System will help me to assess my students reading levels and to test them periodically to monitor achievement. This program will also help me to match my students to books that are at their level. This will help them to become successful readers. By creating successful readers, I will be able to create successful mathematicians, scientists, artists, and writers. You can make it all possible. Help me to inspire my students to read and open up a world of possibilities to them. It all starts with placing them in the right books and the Fountas and Pinnell program will help me to do this.
My students need to be correctly matched to the right reading level books in order for them to be successful readers.
The cost of this proposal is $682, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ."

Dear Keryn, Jennifer, Amy, Mari, Cash4Books.net and Anonymous Donors,
Thank you so much for your generous offer. Our district has recently created a new Literature model and focus on reading. We are all working very hard to ensure that our students become readers and not only that, but lifelong readers. Readers who think about what they are reading and make inferences and connections to the text. With this program I will be able to accurately assess my students' reading ability and help them to choose books that are at their reading level. I will also be able to continuously monitor their reading progress and create intervention groups to help my struggling readers. I hope you realize the impact you will be having on student success. At a time when budget cuts are inevitable, you have made it possible for me to get the resources I need in my classroom. I can't thank you enough for your generous donations. You have made a teacher very happy...and have made it possible for kids to get "just right" books in their hands. Thanks again for all your support. With gratitude, Mrs. G.

"I gave to this project because I know how important education and technology is to other kids like me. My dad works in a public school as a technician fixing their computers and stuff and it really makes it hard on the teachers when their stuff is broken."
