In today's high tech society special needs children can often get overwhelmed at the amount of information being presented to them. I teach the lowest special needs students in grades 6 to 8 in a science and technology based charter school in a large city.

There are 90% or more of the students in my school participating in free and reduced breakfast and lunch programs. There are no resources within my school to obtain the items I have asked for. All of the materials for my room I have to supply with my own money. The students come to school without supplies. These are items I never seem to have enough money to buy after buying pencils and paper and the usual supplies.

The InFocus LightShow will allow us to use the tablet computer and LCD projector I have without the cables. It means that we can have the tablet on the table and project the image. This would have a huge impact on our ability to utilize all of the tools that the tablet offers the students. The students will be able to manipulate and learn on the computer in front of the class. The sensory balls and seats will help the students with ADD and sensory disabilities to relax and focus better. I have a small kitchen area in my room where students fix simple meals and learn nutrition as well as social skills and teamwork. I do not have a stove. We have two toaster ovens and a microwave. The griddle will make it easy for the students to make pancakes and grilled cheese as well as other foods.
