I am a kindergarten teacher in Texas and this will be my 8th year teaching! The science center is always a popular center for my kids to go to in my classroom, but I do not have many materials for them to explore with. My kids need every opportunity to experiment and explore the world around them. This will help them in every academic area. I am proposing to obtain the Lakeshore science specimens sorting center. This center allows children to use their eyes and fingers to investigate the scientific properties of more than 20 fascinating specimens - from rocks & shells to feathers and pine cones! The children just sort the specimens onto big 8" X 10" mats that are included. I am also proposing the Lakeshore match-a-bug activity center that allows kids to get an exciting, hands-on introduction to insects and arachnids, and the Lakeshore patterns in nature mystery sliders. These sliders let children discover patterns in the world around them with self checking sliders that encourage kids to solve fun-filled mysteries! Children can begin using these ready made materials right away and begin their explorations. I know my kiddos will love exploring with these new center activities!
