I am a 7th grade science teacher in an urban-ring middle school with a 50% poverty level.

Kids who are at the 7th grade level are extremely disorganized; their brains are going through a "re-wiring" process at this age and are biologically incapable of keeping themselves organized very well. In addition, I teach a high population of resource students who have additional impediments to learning. In order to help them with this task, I have always purchased 3-ring binders for them out of my own pocket, but the place where I used to be able to get them at a semi-reasonable price has DRASTICALLY increased the price to a point where I can't afford to do this for my students anymore. Because of the high poverty level of many of my students, asking their parents to purchase binders for the students is often akin to asking them to choose between that and putting food in their bellies. The school, itself, can't afford to assist me with this.

I am asking that someone out there will be kind enough to see fit to assist me with purchasing 100 binders. The students' organize their entire science class experience with them. Anyone who remembers being this age (or has children of their own this age) knows how anything that helps a 7th grader better organize his or herself will help to improve their learning experience an, thus, their grades. Also, my resource students need every advantage that they can get in order to better help them in the classroom.

Your kind donation will ensure that my students have every opportunity to do all that they can to get themselves organized and improve their chances of mastering the subject material. All these children need is a chance, and you can provide them with that chance that they so desperately need. Thank you in advance.
