My students need 33 materials including social studies books (such as The Story of the Statue of Liberty and The Pledge of Allegiance), enjoyable chapter books (such as Keeker and the Sugarshack, Second Grade Friends, and A Fine, Fine, School), and math learning activities (such as Shoe Box Learning Centers, Math Aerobics and Telling Time Bingo).

Eager and excited students would be thrilled to have new materials that encourage the love of learning! I teach multiple ability leveled second grade students in a high-need and extremely rural community in New York State.

New York State suggests specific social studies titles to accompany the New York State social studies teaching curriculum. There is no money for these books in our school budget and I have already purchased many materials out of my own pocket. The books listed by New York State are very interesting for students and will encourage the love of social studies. The reading books I choose are high interest and beginner chapter books encouraging the love of reading for second grade. The math supplies will help basic math skills come alive for students. The goal of each and every supply I requested will encourage the love and desire to learn!

New York State suggested social studies book titles, fun and leveled chapter book reading titles (very high interest), math supplies such as shoebox centers and math aerobics that will help students get excited about second grade math skills.

Your generosity will ensure that my students have the materials necessary to become excited about school and will love learning at a young age! Hours of fun and hands-on learning will be supplied with this much needed donation to a very caring school!
