I teach Science Skills & Reasoning and Biology to freshmen and sophomores. My students live in a low-income area and I want to be able to show them the limitless possibilities for their lives and maybe light a spark that will take them in the direction of a career in the field of science.

My students are faced with trying to learn the skills necessary to master the basic concepts of science in an ancient, out-dated science lab with very little or, in some cases, no functional equipment.

One of the components of teaching the scientific process is making the students understand the ways that scientists measure data. These balances will provide the students with a hands-on experience in one of the methods used to measure the mass or weight of an object.

Through your generosity my students will gain valuable hands-on experience that just might provide the spark needed to motivate one of them to become a scientist and find the cure for cancer or even AIDS. Anything is possible if you don't limit your imagination.
