Pre-K Flips for Technology Integration

My students need a lightweight and durable Flip digital video camera that will enable me to digitally capture and extend their learning experiences within our pre-k classroom.

I teach Pre-Kindergarten to 32 three year-olds at a Title I school near an Air Force Base. I have a morning and an afternoon class of 16 students each, the majority of them from military or need based families.

My students and I are very blessed to be a part of a new technology program allowing them the use of iPod shuffles to better strengthen their language skills. My students are thrilled when they record themselves for our weekly and monthly podcasts and enjoy hearing themselves over the computer.

I would like to extend this experience through the use of the digital Flip video camera to include digital video clips of them singing, dancing, performing puppet shows, exploring their environment, and performing science experiments, to be linked to my webpage for them to view at home with their parents. The Flip digital camera will allow me to do this with ease and as little frustration as possible, helping me to further enhance the home to school connection. I also have students in my class that have parents and/or relatives serving our country overseas. By having our learning experiences videotaped and attached to our class web page, active duty parents and relatives serving our country can remain connected with their child's education.

My students become excited and motivated to learn when we record their podcasts; I can only imagine how motivated to participate and engaged they will be in their own learning when they are able to videotape and watch themselves. Your help will allow my students to extend and enhance their learning experience beyond our classroom. Their families will be provided the opportunity to share in their child's education, no matter what country they are in.
