My students need a a variety of supplies for their classroom that include; pencils, heavy duty stapler, little staplers for each group table, tough tape dispenser, white board erasers, pocket portfolios, tissue for their little noses, and storage bins to keep it all organized.

I know it's only July, but fall is just around the corner and teachers every where are already dreaming of school supplies. This fall will be my fourth year to teach 3rd grade and I have come to realize that teachers are even more "Supply Crazy" than their students. Students are given a supply list of all the items they need to bring the first week of school. All the basic supplies are listed, crayons, pencils, paper, glue, scissors, etc. This is wonderful and definitely helps all teachers, but teachers do not check off which students bring what supplies or even if they bring supplies. Plain and simple, some of our students just can't afford to bring everything. I collect paper, pencils, glue, spirals, hand sanitizer and tissue boxes from students that are able to bring supplies. I ask my students to keep their crayons, markers, rulers, scissors, and some of their pencils. It doesn't make sense to collect everything and keep it at school when they don't have those things at home. Students need all those supplies at home in order to complete homework assignments and projects, or just create on their own. I buy supplies all year long when I find them on sale and store them until needed. It never seems to be enough though. I want my students to have an abundance of supplies and supplies that can withstand little hands dropping them. In order for my Supply Dream to come true, my students will need an abundance of pencils, a super sturdy tape dispenser, a heavy duty stapler, small staplers for each group table, board erasers to fit small and big hands, durable pocket portfolios, facial tissue, and storage bins to keep it all organized.
