I want to make my classroom as fun and student-centered as I possibly can. With a teacher resource library, I will be able to do this! I am in a very high-need community, where most of my students are on free/reduced lunch.

Most of my students come from very low income families where there are not a great deal of resources available. These kids are very needy, yet hard to reach. They love when I present new and innovative methods to teach, so I feel that having a teacher resource library will greatly benefit my students.

The materials that I have requested for my teacher resource library include books and materials that will be utilized to teach all content areas I am responsible for. In the third grade curriculum, I am responsible for teaching reading comprehension, math, communities, maps, human body, the solar system, soil, and plants. It is so important to keep things moving and interesting in my classroom, and with the wealth of ideas and strategies included in the requested materials, my kids are sure to be more motivated and inspired by what I'm teaching, as well as more likely to show growth on our end of year state tests. The resources include idea books (lesson plans and projects), interactive review games, drill-and-practice type materials, and other resources that link what the students are learning in their classrooms to what they see and do in their everyday lives (Example: Menu Math). In addition to the benefits the kids will receive from these resources, I cannot begin to tell you what effect it will have on me as a teacher. Students are not the only ones who get bored and burned out. With these creative ideas, I will be more excited about what I'm teaching.

Your generous donations will ensure that my kids are excited and motivated to learn this up-coming year. These resources will enable me to plan and prepare really neat lessons that will keep my students attention, create a love of learning, and keep us all from getting burned out with those hum-drum lessons. All this put together will undoubtedly help in decreasing the number of inappropriate behaviors that I see daily in our rooms. Thanks for your consideration and time in reading our proposal!
