In a highly diverse community of learners, my 8th grade students are full of questions which need to be answered not only through the text in books, but through computer access as well.

While my school has a wonderful lab, there is only one lab which has to serve 60+ classrooms every day. Many of my students also lack computer or internet access at home. The combination of limited accessibility in and out of school slows the inquiry process and learning of my students throughout the year.

I have found part of the solution through my supportive husband, and the company he works for changing their computer systems. My husband is donating 10 desktops computers and 19" monitors to my classroom, but the hard drives were removed to protect customer information. Students often loose momentum on research or technology driven projects because I have to spread out the days we are in the computer lab.

To further enhance the opportunity of technology in the classroom, I am involved in a 3 day class for integrating technology and want to help students capitalize on my new found knowledge. In addition, I am offering other teachers access to the computers by trading classrooms for a day (or two) if needed to complete projects in a timely manner (keep the learning moving rather than dictated by computer lab access). Your donation will make it possible for my students to keep their learning momentum moving while enhancing their knowledge and use of technology to demonstrate their learning. You will also make it possible for other students in my school to benefit as well!
