Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a fourth grade teacher at a title 1 elementary school in Prince George's Country, Maryland. I am always trying to find motivating and inspiring activities to pique my students' interest in reading. Currently, the reading block is done at a small table. This arrangement is not the most convenient and therefore not conducive to learning. What I would like to do is have a large carpeted area where I could sit on the floor with my students and I could interact with them. My students are eager learners and I am willing to try anything to get them hooked on reading.

The carpet will give us the opportunity to create a more intimate and literature friendly environment. My students are average readers and I would like to foster their love of reading by providing an environment that will stimulate and motivate them to read.

The solution to my situation is the colorful,resourceful,educational and multi-functional carpet from Lakeshore. My students will be able to sit on a clean, soft and comfortable area rug as they read.

For the last five years, my students have made Adequate Yearly Progress. With your support, I am confident that we will continue this achievement. Your help will help ensure my students' continued success.
