Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach at an inner-city school which focuses on science and technology. The school itself is one of the oldest public schools in California. The second grade students in my class come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds and have a wide-range of academic abilities.

Our dilemma? The second grade classes are located on the third floor and are the furthest away from the office and computer lab. We would find it much safer as well as convenient if we could print in the classroom instead of having to wait until after school to pick up documents. Making necessary last-minute copies inside the room rather than sending students on long treks through the school to get copies made just seems more time efficient. Sometimes things happen and you can't plan ahead!

With a working copier/printer inside the classroom, students will be able to see the finish computer project immediately. Moreover, if for some reason we are short copies of something, say a homework assignment, copies can be made instantly without wasting valuable time sending students out of the room and/or bothering the over-worked school clerk.

Your help will benefit my students in more ways than you can imagine. Not only will they be able to print projects right from their classroom, they will also have the ability to share their work with classmates by being able to make copies. Therefore, time is being better spent in the classroom focusing on education instead of running errands.
