Bringing the World to Our Students

I envision my classroom as a place where my students' imaginations run wild and the only restrictions on their creativity and learning are the things they have not yet explored. I teach 9th and 10th grade World History in an at risk school. My students are very curious about the world and all of the rich history that it has to offer.

While my students are very eager learners, the school doesn't have all of the supplies that it needs to really engage the kids. Our budgets are spent maintaining facilities that are in need of repair. The one resource that my students do have at their fingertips, their textbook, is antiquated and very one sided.

By introducing my students to a whole new source of information, they can use their textbooks as secondary resources rather than as their only one. With an LCD projector, I can bring my students to all parts of the world and never have to leave the classroom. We can use Google Earth to explore the Great Wall of China, or videoconference with students in India.

My students need to see how amazing and diverse our world is. With the small donation of an LCD projector, I can bring that too them. Your donation will allow hundreds of students to visit the Nile River, trace how Hannibal crossed the Alps and see our wonderful world in a way they never imagined. Your donation will truly inspire young minds.
