Inquisitive, investigators describes my kindergarten class. While they come from difficult surroundings at home, these children are bright eyed and ready to learn, especially when they are getting to discover new things. Several children in my class have disabilities such as Autism and ADHD that make learning difficult, but they all enjoy school and love learning.

My curriculum is supposed to focus on reading and math, but I've learned that incorporating scientific experiments enriches the learning. Introducing science units provides rich topics to read about, and also gives real world parallels for math instruction making the information relevant and meaningful.

Imagine how excited the children will be when they get to watch caterpillars turn into butterflies, explore with magnets, see the roots form as the plants grow, and mix colors to prove that red and blue really do make purple! With these simple items I hope to spark scientific thinking that can transfer over to all areas of academic learning.

Your help will provide the tools needed to inspire future scientist, while enhancing the teaching of reading and math! You will make it possible for my students to feel successful in scientific endeavors and gain self confidence.
