I teach family and consumer sciences (Home Ec) at a small poor school district in upstate New York. I teach grades 6-7- and 8 as well as the high school foods class. I use cookbooks with all 153 students each year.

Our community was hit by a flood two years ago and since then our school budget has been very tight. I have not been able to update my cookbooks in fifteen years as they are not considered textbooks in new york state. I really want to update to more nutritious and modern.

I really would like to have a set of ten Betty Crocker Cookbooks to use as classroom texts in the 8th grade and the high school foods class. I am so surprised how little my students know about everyday cooking. Many eat a lot of take out and hamburgers. I need to teach them to make nutritious and easy foods for themselves and their families.
