My students need materials to write. This includes paper, journals, pencils, and crayons for publishing. In order to promote writing everyday, we need story starters as well. To publish our writings, we will need blank books.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach energetic, fun-loving, eager to learn first graders in a high-poverty area in Tennessee. My school is located in a neighborhood and many of the children walk to school each day.
Writing is an essential life skill. How can you survive in today's world without being able to write? Students enter my classroom struggling to spell their name. However, when they leave first grade, these students should be able to write a paragraph. What a task! To relate writing to first grade, I have set a goal for my students to become 2nd grade authors. This means we will be writing like 2nd graders by the end of the year. My students need supplies to accomplish this goal, as well as materials that I can use to lead them to writing success!
To write, we need tablet paper that is appropriate for first grade. We also need pencils and crayons. In order to write daily, students will need picture journals where they can both write and illustrate. In order to get their creative minds working, I would like story starters and journal topics to present to them each day. After all this practice, I want my students to become 2nd grade authors. By providing my students with blank books, you will give each student a chance to become a real author! We will write in our books at the end of the year to show what we've learned. I'd also like to create class books along the way. These resources will lead my students to reaching their goal!
You are giving my students a chance to achieve their writing goal of becoming second grade authors. More than that, you are providing my students with the opportunity to learn a life skill that will only lead them to becoming productive citizens. Thank you for giving my students a chance to become 2nd grade authors!
