My students need one nutrition model kit to learn all about nutrition and caring for themselves now and in the future.

I teach 4th grade students in a very small rural area in eastern North Carolina, where farming is a main source of income, and most mothers do not work public jobs.

Food and nutrition is a required objective that we must teach for both science and health. It states that our students know how read the food guide pyramid so that the students know how much is needed in each bread, fruit, and vegetables group. Our health textbooks are very old and we do not have enough for the entire class. With science we have no textbooks only a small kit which only a few limited supplies that have to be reused. With that said of course the food guide pyramid in the books we have is outdated.

In order to adequately teach this objective I am asking for a food pyramid model for my students. With this the students will be able to put their hands on it and manipulate what food needs to be where on the pyramid, and what is needed daily from each food group and how much.

With your help you will make it possible for my students to see what is needed each day from the different food groups so that they can not only be healthier people but be aware of what is needed daily. Thank you for your support and I know that you WILL make a difference for my students.
