Peer Leadership Program

My students need 5 peer leadership books, a Kodak digital camera, and a photo printer.

We are a high need community with a focus on service and cooperation. The activities we hope to create will provide younger and older students with the opportunity to feel valuable and motivated to learn.

Within the last few months, this community has endured trauma and violence that has affected our children very deeply. The students and staff have worked hard to provide one another with support to get through these very difficult times.

Next year, we will be welcoming the first sixth grade class (previously, the school was K-5). A peer leadership program would teach and empower older students to better support and help the younger children who are struggling or disconnected in school. Books and a camera/printer would provide both the training materials (the books) and the activities (the camera/printer) for the leaders to involve younger kids in positive self-esteem promoting activities. For example, the camera would be used for students to celebrate those children who participate in school based clubs or have good attendance.

Your help will give us the means to provide some of our neediest children with ways to feel connected within our community - the first, most valuable step in helping kids learn to believe in themselves and all that they can achieve.
