"One of the key things missing from our student newspaper is the inclusion of student artwork. The reason? We have no scanner to scan the images.
For this proposal, I am requesting a flatbed scanner to be used by the students producing the student newspaper, The Advocate. With a scanner, we will be able to include things in our paper such as hand-drawn editorial cartoons, illustrations, and designs. Having these things in the paper also provides an outlet for students who excel in art and graphics -- something not currently offered at my school.
I am a firm believer that students who struggle with reading and writing can still be a part of the newspaper staff. Having a scanner to include more art work is one way to reach out to these students. Perhaps once they see their art work published, they will be encouraged to write for publication as well.
With your help, we can increase the self-confidence of these young men and women and provide them with an outlet of expression.
My students need a flatbed color scanner and USB cable to produce the student newspaper.
The cost of this proposal is $233, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ."

Dear Blake, Jake, Edward and Anonymous Donor,
Thank you so much for funding my proposal, "Scanner Needed For Student Newspaper."
My journalism class is beginning to put together the first issue of our student newspaper, The Advocate. Your donation could not have come at a better time. Having a scanner will enable them to include drawings, cartoons and other artwork in the newspaper.
Thank you again for your generosity. My students are a wonderfully dedicated group who will greatly appreciate your donation.
Best regards,
Kelly
