I teach all subjects to second graders in a high-poverty urban school. Most families in our community are at or below the poverty level.

As the Social Studies grade level planner, I am always looking for new ways to hook Social Studies in the classroom to events in the outside world. With 81 total second graders, we have no means of purchasing subscriptions to any such magazines or publications as Time for Kids.

I need 81 subscriptions to Time for Kids. This would provide each student with their very own copy to read. Having this resource would give the second grade teachers an opportunity to give students a more empowering and relevant Social Studies lesson, linking events in the real world to the classroom. Additionally, students would be able to practice reading informational text, which is another second grade standard.

Your donation will make it possible for my students to keep up on current events, which will empower them to be more educated citizens and future leaders of the United States. Your donation will also ensure a rich Social Studies educational experience for our second graders, and provide them with very interesting and relevant reading material.
