Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach debate in a middle class type high school, which has several at-risk students. We have a low budget because of financial restraints and would like to purchase the materials listed.

My students are not in a financial position to be able to buy a lap top and printer for our squad. My students realize how important these two articles are, especially when we are at a tournament and other debaters are beating us because we need to alter or add something to our debate case, and find it difficult to do it by hand.

Having a club laptop and printer like other squads will make us one of the most competitive squads at a tournament. The students can write their cases, put them on flash drives and be able to make changes at the spur-of-the moment. This allows them to prepare for the next round by taking what they learned in a previous round, rework the cases, reprint them, and have them for the next debate. It also allows them to prepare a professional looking debate case as they prepare to meet the next challenge before them. Having these supplies will give them the confidence they need to be successful.

With your donation to our project it will empower our squad to gain confidence before each debate round, and give them the tools they need to be successful in that round. Your donation will make it possible for a small group of high school debaters become successful competitors experience the positive feeling that that holds.
