Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My students are adults from different countries who are learning how to speak English as well as write, read and understand what they hear in order to get jobs, become productive members of American society, help their children in school and keep them safe from crime and drugs. At the present time we don't have a television and the district has no money to buy one. I have asked for a television that will play DVDs, CDs and video cassettes but there are none available. Most people are primarily visual learners, so having a television would provide all my students with a whole world of educational videos, DVDs, and CDs directed at their particular ESL level. This will make the classes more dynamic and more interesting. More students are likely to stay and bring their friends when lessons are dynamic and designed to meet their everyday needs. As they say, "ONE PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS!!" A television that also serves as a DVD player, CD player, and video player will cost less than getting a television plus three other machines. Your donation will make English come alive for my students as they learn the skills they need to help their children, solve their problems, move around this new world with confidence, get jobs, and eventually become responsible citizens.
