Young children learn best through hands-on experiences. I teach Pre-Kindergarten in an area that is middle class and culturally diverse. I have two classes with 20 students in each class. My students are 4 and 5 years old.

Pre-Kindergarteners learn best through play. At this age, students understand new concepts better when they can experience them. They cannot think abstractly and need to "learn by doing". Having an area where they can role play different situations, provides them with invaluable information and opportunity for growth. Young children can grasp the world around them much easier if they are provided with the tools needed to play various roles. My class does not have the props necessary to set up this vital learning center.

I need various career costumes and props so that I can set up a restaurant, doctors office or veterinarian clinic in my dramatic play center. These items will enhance student's vocabulary, social skills, math skills, literacy skills and writing skills.

You will make it possible for my students to develop new knowledge in all areas of early learning as well as important social skills and creative expression.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
