Hello! I am a 3rd grade teacher in Houston, Texas. I have 24 third graders who all receive free or reduced price lunch and are considered "at-risk" students. Approximately 50% of my students speak English as their second language.

My class wants to start a school newspaper. We have paper, pencils, and a computer to write the articles, but we don't have a good camera to take pictures.

I would like a Canon Rebel camera. It is a recent model camera with a zoom lens. My students could learn so much about photography as we take pictures for our newspaper. This could encourage them to become professional photographers or journalists when they grow up.

After years of hard work, our school made Exemplary on our standardized tests. So my students wanted to tell everybody about it but we didn't have anywhere to published our wonderful accomplishments. We agreed that a newspaper sent out to our school and the community would be a great way to show off the wonderful things that we have done throughout the year. You can make this a reality for my students. Help them show our community what they can do. Help them shine through photographs in their newspaper.
