I am a veteran 5th grade teacher in an urban public school in Florida. I teach 23 students, 5 of those students are learning English as a second language. 92% of our schools' students receive free or reduced lunch and the entire student body receives free breakfast. Many of our students have been impacted by three hurricanes over the past few years.

My students enjoy writing and are always looking for new and exciting ways to approach their writing. The students would like to take pictures of math related concepts and integrate math with their writing, however, our classroom does not have a digital camera. Our school supply funding has been cut back significantly for next year and we will have difficulty funding basic supplies. Purchasing a digital camera is completely out of the question.

I would like to have one digital camera, a carrying case, and a memory card for my students to take pictures of math concepts found in various environments such as within the classroom and outside of the classroom. These pictures will be taken in cooperative groups and will have a positive impact on their interpersonal skills. Once the pictures are printed, they will be used in individual, large group, and cooperative writing lessons.
