Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

This is a class for students who have Moderate to Severe disabilities including autism, down syndrome and mental retardation. Our school library, like most high school libraries, doesn't have many books at the level that these students need.

Most books in high school libraries are for students reading at the high school level. Students with special needs, reading at much lower grade levels have a difficult time finding books that are highly visual and at a lower reading level in their high school.

We need donations of books that will meet the needs of high school students with severe disabilities. Any number of books will be greatly appreciated as we build a collection for our growing special needs population.

With your help these students will have access to books that draw their interest and make them feel that they have a reason to access their school library. Books can be rewarding and enriching for all students no matter what reading level.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
