Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Imagine the bright captivating lightning bolts of Zeus. The beautiful flowing hair of Aphrodite. I want my students to be able to experience and "see" all of the Greek Gods. My inner city sixth graders love to hear tales of Greek Mythology. I want to give my students every chance to learn and experience the Gods by reading and listening.

Because of my students great interest in mythology I began searching my school for materials. I was able to find some, but not enough for my class. The books that I found are aged and dull. I want to give my students the action packed stories they crave and the illustrations that bring the stories to life.

To bring the myths to life, I would love to have a class set of realistic fiction mythology novels to grab students attention and to allow them to connect to a character. Then I want to supply my students with the tools to further their study. These tools include a enlarged books with beautiful illustrations and stories of the Gods. I also want my students to experience a audio recording of a famous Greek Myths. This way my students will be able to hear what they are reading about.

Your help will make it possible for my students to continue their quest for knowledge. It is not often that a middle school preteen child finds something that engages them. It is your help that will encourage my students to read and learn about The Greek Gods.
