Imagine-you are a five year old in Kindergarten. Your teacher plugs in her computer and everything on the monitor supersize's onto the wall in your classroom. You will probably feel amazed, excited, curious, and motivated to learn. She then continues her lesson utilizing interactive websites about sharks. You have been learning about ocean animals in reading and science. Now you are able to actually see a real shark swimming in the water. Imagine your excitement. I teach Kindergarten. Unfortunately, I am not able to bring the real world into my classroom unless it is with books or magazines. Young students are visual as well as concrete learners. This means they need to see something in action as well as manipulate it with their hands. Obviously some things are just not able to be brought into the classroom-like sharks! The next best way is to teach them with animated visuals. Having an LCD projector will provide my students with technological advances which will allow them to better experience the wonders of the world within my classroom. I will be able to fuel my students desire to learn by introducing them to concepts in a different, nontraditional, exciting and age-appropriate way. I will be able to attach my personal laptop to the LCD projector and provide my students with engaging learning experiences through interactive websites. I will also be able to access and utilize the online resources that correspond to our reading and math series within my class. Many of these resources include animated educational clips that introduce relevant kindergarten skills. Together with your help, I will be able to create motivation, excitement and curiosity in the young minds of the kindergarten students. Through your donations, you will be able to introduce the wonders of the world to countless kindergarten children!
