There is more to history than George, Abe and John, but you'd never know it by reading the classroom text. I teach US History as well as World History. My school supplied reference resources to supplement the text are minimal to non-existent.

During an 84 minute block it is truly important to provide variety and a multi-modal style. That is tough to do with only a text book. The students are interested in a wide array of topics and people. The texts offer the same thing, year after year, after year.

The diverse reference resources requested will be used for many classes and at many levels. They will be used for discussion prompts, for research and reports, for bulletin board displays, and for writing prompts. They will show the students that there are many more people and events that have built the world. Maybe (Hopefully) the students will be inspired by someone else they see and read about in these resources. The requested reference resources cover the gamut from Americans with Disabilities, to Women, to Asian-Americans and Hispanic-Americans, to name a few. They will supplement many lessons throughout the year, and will provide invaluable reference material for the students in class.

Your donation can help me bring this material to the classroom. It will ensure that my students see beyond the text, explore other people and events, broaden their horizons and enhance their learning experience. You will make it possible to inspire a future leader.
