I teach 11th grade history and 12th grade English. In my English classes I teach an assortment of British literature, Greek Mythology, and how to research and write a term paper. I teach in a rural community that places more emphasis on the family business or farm than on education, and the reading level widely varies from student to student.

In Hollywood there has been an increased attention to epic movies. "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" has received a movie makeover, which is not only accurate but also exciting. I've had many conversations with various students who loved the first movie and cannot wait to watch the second, but they have never read the book. Here is an excellent opportunity to teach great literature, and, better yet, my students are interested in reading it! So what's the problem? I do not have a classroom set of 30 books in order for each student to have their own copy. This book has heroes and villains; it has adventures and battles, and it's a coming-of-age story for the four young siblings. There are so many personal connections and hands-on activities that I wish to incorporate into my lesson plans, but we're limited because of a lack of supplies.

If I were to receive a classroom set of 30 books of "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" each student would be able to have his or her own copy to read in class and at home, freeing up more time for class discussion and interactive projects. The books, paired with the newest version of the movie, would make the story really jump off the page and my students excited to learn!
