I am trying to start up a student produced news cast at my school. The idea came from an elective class I have been teaching called Current Events. The school has had a newspaper that is printed about once a month, but I feel a television news broadcast will help these students that may want to focus as journalism as a future career.

My students love the idea of being the next Tom Brokaw. The only problem is having the computer equipment to edit and produce their very own television news broadcast. Think of how awesome it would have been when you were in school to see yourself on the school televisions giving the news on a weekly or even daily basis. This will help boost these students' self esteem and be a very fun project for them to do and guess what...they don't even realize they are keeping up with news and events happening all over the country and even the globe. This will teach students to be interested in the news and different methods of getting the news in the future.

The main thing we need to get this project off the ground is a computer to do the editing of film. We have a camera to film the broadcast, however our older computers at school are not powerful enough to handle the editing of video.

Just imagine that your small donation could help pave the future for students wanting to follow a career in journalism. Not only will this donation help students that will be learning to film, edit, and produce a news broadcast, but will also be a great way to get all the students in the school paying attention to the news happening around them.
