I teach second grade at a charter school. I have 18 students in my class. Part of our mission statement is to use project based learning, service learning, and parent involvement to meet the needs of all students. We are resource based and do not have any text books. This allows for more student input and creativity.

I would love to use more technology in my classroom, but lack the equipment. When the students are working on computers, it is hard to tell students what to do - it is more effective to show them. I have no way of demonstrating to them how to make a PowerPoint. I have a subscription to United Streaming (a video resource for teachers to show short clips on educational topics) but no way of allowing students to view the videos.

I would like a LCD projector to show the students how to create PowerPoints and do various projects on the computer. I would use the LCD projector to show them video clips related to what we are learning about. I would also use it to model writing strategies or write letter as a class. If I wrote stories using the LCD projector, all students would be able to read what we are writing and quickly edit it.

You will make it possible for my students to learn more about technology, have access to more learning opportunities through watching video clips, and allow them to create stories as a class.
