I also serve as a technology team member for my school. Our students come from a low income area with 99% of the student population on free or reduced lunch. I would like to merge technology and visual arts in the close of the school year and future years. I have recently acquired Claymation movie making software and Corel Photo shop through a grant. We only need digital camera to complete my goal of developing a technologically advanced art classroom. With these cameras, the students can actually take pictures of their clay figurines to make their movies. I am writing grants to secure a minimum of one camera for every 3-4 students. Ideally, we will eventually have a digital camera for each child to work with. My students do not see the arts as a future for them. I recently visited a local artists work. She had found items in nature that represented letters of the alphabet. For instance two leaves forming a V. A water faucet dial to make an O. She then took pictures of these items and framed them. It was a framed arrangement of four pictures creating a word such as "LOVE". These were priced at over $150 for four photos. I want my students to see this form of art and create their own ideas like this. The students can see this as a future career path. Without your help, they will never experience such wonderful learning opportunities. hide» My students need 5 digital cameras. details»
