My Students

Remember finding the first book that you really enjoyed reading? Many of my students have not found that book yet. I want them to be able to feel the excitement I did. By using new, young adult literature, I will help improve my students' reading levels along with helping them find enjoyment in reading.

My students are in a Title 1 reading classroom.

We work in a small group setting. Many of my students are severely below in their reading abilities. Most of them are typically two to three grade levels behind. My students have never enjoyed reading because it has always been difficult for them.

My Project

These resources will be used in the classroom to teach comprehension and fluency skills. These books will be read together in the classroom with all students. To give the students a choice, I chose four different novels so that the students could have the choice of what they want to read. I have found this works much better! They are not as hesitant to read the book.

This donation will help improve my classroom by giving my students more novel choices.

If these students can find a genre they really enjoy, my hope is that they will have the desire to to want to continue reading. It is important for them to continue to read in order to help improve their reading abilities that they are lacking.
