Mrs. Taylor from Oak Park MI is requesting supplies through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a dramatic play center Island to enhance their play. My students need a storage shelf, so they can use manipulatives that have been purchased.

Each day my students are excited and motivated to come to school and learn. This is a play-based program where children are eager to learn. My challenge is that I have the materials for students, but do not have the equipment to enhance students' learning to the fullest.
"Play is our brain's favorite way of learning." This is one of my favorite quotes because it is true people learning by doing.
Young children need play in order to develop social and emotional skills, language skills, and academic skills. My wonderful students come to school each day excited, eager, and ready to learn. My students are qualified for this program because they are more at-risk compared to other children their age. They have to be under a certain poverty level to qualify for the program. These are low income children attending a Title 1 school. These children deserve the best high quality preschool experience. The program is grant funded, but since we are a newer program and have need many materials, the funds are extremely tight.
I am requesting a dramatic play dress-up island. I was so lucky to receive over 20 dress up (career) costumes this year. However, we do not have anything to hang them on. They are placed in a box and truly with young children this is difficult. They cannot see the dress up clothes that we have and it is extremely unorganized. Having this dress-up island will allow for the materials to be organized and to enhance children's social-emotional skills, problem solving skills and allow learning to take place. I also am requesting a toy shelf, I received many new materials and manipulatives, but since I do not have enough shelves all the new materials are sitting in boxes. This is unfair to students that they are unable to used the purchased materials. With this shelf children will have access to 20 more materials to increase fine motor skills, academic skills and overall engage in meaningful play.
