Oprah should not be the only one to have a terrific book club. I teach a self-contained, fourth grade classroom.

This year has been our first year using a Reading/Writing Workshop format for Language Arts. One of the final units of study is to have children get into small groups, read the same book, and discuss. It has been difficult to find multiple copies of many books so that children have a variety to choose from.

I need multiple copies of books for my classroom library. In this unit I would like to study three specific types of books. One type is Newberry Award Winning books, such as Gossamer by Lois Lowry. The second type is Historical Fiction, such as Let the Circle be Unbroken by Mildred D. Taylor. The last type of books are books written by Andrew Clements, such as Lunch Money. These books will be used to give students the opportunity to read and share their thoughts about what they have read.

With your help, all my students will be able to carry out book clubs at the same time and not have to wait for books to become available.
