Teaching where things are in the world is impossible without the ability to see it for yourself. In 3rd grade, we talk a lot about culture and location and with no maps or access to maps it is impossible.

My class is made up of 7 out of 19 students on the fee waiver list, but my school as a whole is a middle class environment with a very small amount of Title 1 funds coming in. This makes it difficult in getting resources that are essential to teaching. Although maps are not expensive, I have had to use my materials money on school supplies to meet my children's daily school needs.

I need several good quality maps to show locations of places that we are reading about in our reading curriculum. It will also aide in my lessons on geography, landforms, and the large culture study we do each year in our 3rd grade classrooms.

I feel that visual aides are essential for those children that do not have the imagination or the experiences of traveling to other places in our world. With this money I can show them where we are and where we might want to go!
