Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

"Welcome to the 5th Grade Classroom" the sign says as you enter my room. I am not only the 5th grade teacher, but I teach an after school technology club. I have selected 8 very deserving students to learn more about technology. We are a Title I school and have very few funds for an after school program not already funded by the state.

After a student technology survey the buzz around school started to grow. "Have you heard about the technology club?' some of the students would say. Word travels fast. Have you ever been so excited about something that you just have to share it? The club is now meeting but lacks the supplies necessary. We have the major hardware, computers, but now we need the small, simple, yet helpful and essential flash drives.

These young unaware students still think data is saved on floppy disks. By them being able to use a flash drive and learn of its technology they will gain a better understanding of how to store and transfer data. Youth in the state of California are unable to use email accounts, which makes it difficult to ask them to work on something at home and bring it in the next day and work on it at school. Flash drives will solve many problems as well as propel them forward in their understanding of how technology works.

Your small yet powerful donation will provide eight students a wealth of knowledge and a world of learning. Simply by showing them that a picture can be inserted to a document their faces light up. Knowing that they can take that home and show their families the amazing things they are learning will truly transform their learning experience.
