Family Fun with Math

My students need books, games, flash cards, and puzzles to create 20 family math take home bags.

I am a dedicated math teacher with a genuine interest in helping all students succeed and reach their full potential. I teach 18 eager learners and strive daily to meet their diverse learning needs despite the economic hardships they face. Each of my students posses a passion for learning in spite of reading below grade level and use their creative thinking and problem solving skills to overcome many of their math educational barriers.

Funding Family Fun with Math will allow students and parents to work on specific math skills with the same manipulatives and stories we use during math class. Parents will work with their child nightly to ensure that their child learns how to count, sort, classify, add, subtract, graph, count money, identify shapes, and measure in an engaging hands-on way. Parents will be partners in their child’s education and will aid in developing a strong mathematical foundation for their child.

This project needs 20 tote bags, flash cards, math picture books, games, and math activities to establish math take home packs for each of my students. Each tote bag will include activities that parents can work on nightly with their child to ensure that specific math goals are being achieved. Students will check out the tote bags on a weekly basis and parents will provide feedback about their experience working with their child on each math concept.

Family Fun with Math will increase my students opportunity for math success and it will allow parents to play a vital role in the achievement of their child. Family Fun with Math will also boost student confidence in math and provide families with the resources they need to aid in their child's education. Parents are a child’s first and most important teacher and my parents are willing to support learning at home, but they need your support to make it a reality.
