I teach 11th grade history in a small rural town in Pennsylvania. The town is economically disadvantaged.

We have a difficult time affording books for an entire class. My students tried the project this year and enjoyed creating a wiki using the book and also in researching local history and interviewing people about the 1950s.

The book "The Fifties" will be used to create a wiki based on the themes of 1950s America. Video and images will be tied into the themes. Finally the knowledge gathered from the book will drive student interviews of local people. This information will be placed on the wiki.

Your help will ensure that my students will be challenged to read a higher level history book and take a greater interest in local history while using technology.
