Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Principles of Technology is designed to teach students physics principles and concepts in a relatable and hands-on manner. My students are excited and eager to learn but being able to provide them with the necessary resources is essential to their success in my class.
My Principles of Technology classes are composed mostly of juniors with a few seniors mixed in.
These students are inquisitive and have a drive to learn how things in the world work. Every day they come in excited to learn something new and apply their knowledge to hands-on experiments.
My Project
In pairs of two my students will be constructing a roller coaster out of nothing but this card stock paper! This activity is going to allow my students to take the physics principles of potential and kinetic energy and apply it to a real world situation! This project also will require them to access prior knowledge to determine the best structure and design for their roller coaster.
This project is essential to helping my students put their knowledge of kinetic and potential energy into a physical form.
They will also be able to predict, analyze, and develop valid conclusions based on the construction of their coaster and its performance.
