My Students

Hi! Welcome to First Grade! My students are learning to read and in doing so need many opportunities to hear what "good reading" sounds like. I read to them all the time of course but they love listening to books on CD and tape. We are looking to have a way to listen to my cherished library.

My students live in a very low income area and are often not given the same opportunities as most children.

Many of my children are special needs and need every opportunity to read and hear reading take place. They are so excited about books and I want to provide them many ways to enjoy them. The thirst for learning is alive and thriving my my class.

My Project

Listening centers are always a favorite with my students. They love coming in on Monday to see the new books that have been put out. I hope to give every student a chance to listen to reading with the addition of these three Portable CD Players and headphones in additional listening centers. We currently only have tape players and most of my books are on CD.

I want to see students continue to love books and love learning to read.

The only way this happens is by allowing them every possible opportunity to interact with books. For some, listening is all they can do right now; however, listening also teaches them so much about the world around them.
