This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are being introduced to finding evidence in articles that help support answers to comprehension questions, their opinion, and being able to discover new information about a topic. Students are learning and realizing that a title and subtitle as well as bold faced words provide info, too!
We are a diverse group of kiddos in a combo grade (second and third graders) with big personality and an eagerness to learn anything introduced to us!
Our school has a population of approximately 950 students; K-6 grades. Although we have a variety of reading levels we all share the same interest to read as much as possible about anything that comes our way!
My Project
Each week we practice our reading skills with non fiction articles. We read the articles more than one time, find interesting facts, highlight and make other annotations through out lessons. We even complete graphic organizers and take notes to answer comprehension questions all for one article. All of such requires paper copies for each student.
If we are supported via paper donations we will be able to continue reading up to date articles which will surely help to improve our skills!.
My students are always interested in real life events and learning about new places, animals, and other interesting topics.
