I teach band for grades 6-8. We have an outstanding school which is a source of pride for our community.

This school has never had a jazz band. I mentioned to the students that a jazz band would be a great new experience. I was afraid that not enough students would show an interest. After posting a sign up sheet, 59 students signed up to fill 20 positions. We are considering 2 jazz bands. It is exciting to see so many students show an interest in learning something new.

We do not have a bass guitar or keyboard which is essential to a jazz band. If we receive a bass it will enable students to learn a skill that they will keep for the rest of their lives. Maybe a student will find their calling in life. This is the first jazz band the school has ever had. Our band program is very strong, and is a source of pride for the school and community.

With your help, students will be exposed to something that can change their lives. It changed my life. The students are showing a hunger for learning. Your support will mean more than you will ever know.
