In the past year I have moved from a self contained 6th grade room to a junior high PE coach. I teach at an alternative school where the children are sent due to severe behavioral issues. The school makes every effort to retrain these at risk youth and return them to a healthy and normal school environment.

Most of my students are without strong family structure, have had limited success in the school environment and need someone simply to believe in who they are. Academically they are very smart, but the difficulties of life have limited their ability to display who they really can be.

I am requesting 3 sets of bean bags and a target pole game which can be used inside the school for rainy days. With the current passing of Gustav we were blessed with minimal wind damage, but it became clear indoor activities would be needed for a while. We have no gym so the cafeteria serves as an indoor play area and with limited supplies really serves little in helping the children release their stored up energy.

So many of you (the donors) have generously provided my classrooms with books, crafts and resources that have made an amazing impact in the lives of my students. Its because of this change that I continue to come back and ask for help in reaching new batches of children and making a positive impact in their futures. Please consider my proposal and thanks in advance for your kindness.
