Students work hard to complete the required mathematics courses even when faced with very difficult home situations and lack of prior educational experience.
Geometry is often a difficult subject to get students interested in. Many of my students have low reading levels, and have failed mathematics classes in the past. Now, as Juniors and Seniors, they are struggling to pass. It is my hope that by providing them with this AMAZING computer program they will have a way to see Geometry in motion, as well as to learn important 21st century skills through the use of technology. The national and state standards for this age group actually require that students use Geometer's Sketchpad to meet certain benchmarks. Unfortunately, we do not have access to it at this time. This program will be able to be used in all areas of math from Geometry to Algebra. It will benefit so many students as well as teachers for many years to come. Your financial support will make it possible for me to provide my students with an incredible educational experience. You will allow me to create an environment where students see math come alive and will certainly benefit from being able to do math without being held back by their reading deficiencies. My students need 11 copies of Geometers Sketchpad for use in the computer lab.
